Alex

About the Job

Alex lives outside a conventional nine-to-five routine. Slightly rebellious, direct, and funny on her own terms, she improvises her way through life: finding places to stay, making arrangements, and changing course when she needs to. She does what she wants, but that independence has practical and emotional costs. She arrives with her own needs and a life already in progress. As she becomes comfortable with Daniel, teasing turns into affection. She contributes, takes liberties, and starts to assume she is welcome. Asking what they mean to each other would make her more vulnerable than she wants to be. Seeking an actor with character, specificity, strong listening, and grounded comic instincts, who can move naturally between playfulness, impatience, tenderness, and hurt. Alex should feel occupied with her own life even when Daniel is watching her. We welcome diverse talent and actors of all ethnicities and backgrounds. Looking for a lived-in, believable connection to the world of Bushwick, Brooklyn; no particular look or style is required. Lead in a 16mm dark comedy-drama directed by Roman Rütten, produced by Berry Street Pictures. Actors of mixed heritage and Middle Eastern backgrounds are especially encouraged to submit. Open to all ethnicities; performance and chemistry with Daniel will guide the final casting. The attached moodboard illustrates visual tone, atmosphere, and naturalistic performances. Resemblance to the pictured actors is not required. No nudity, kissing, simulated sex, cuddling, or intimate touching is required. The bed-sharing arrangement is platonic. In the limited scenes requiring both actors in bed, they lie beside each other wearing T-shirts and shorts, with no physical contact.
